Hmong Women Leadership Institute (HWLI)
Our Hmong Women Leadership Institute (HWLI) Program is for emerging and current Hmong women leaders to provide Hmong women an opportunity to develop into more powerful community leaders in whichever field they have chosen. It typically runs five to six months long and aims to provide 10-12 women each year with leadership skills needed to be strong leaders in the Hmong community and in the community at-large. The program is a combination of education, training, and community building. Participants learn how to use and practice their leadership in a way that creates lasting change on a personal, familial, organizational, and global level. We incorporate a cultural component into the leadership institute, which is composed of intentional learning activities around traditional Hmong practices, history of Hmong, and Hmong language.
Hmong Girls Leadership Retreat
The Hmong Girls Leadership Retreat provides young Hmong women with an opportunity and space to develop and recognize their leadership in a supportive, nurturing environment. Participants learn how to use and practice their leadership in a way that creates lasting change on a personal, family, organizational, and global level. The retreat is a combination of education, training, and community building.
Hnub Tshiab: Hmong Women Achieving Together (HWAT) consists of an all-volunteer and working board of directors. The organization strives to mobilize Hmong women and girls to actively engage and participate in their families and communities to elevate the status of Hmong women and girls and to shape their own lives. HWAT selects projects that cast a wide net towards the community to change in ways that will be more inclusive of Hmong women and girls at the decision making tables, and to inform others about the plight of Hmong women and girls, and improve opportunities for their voices to be sought out, heard, and their issues, championed.
